One question every MP should answer this election

Canada’s federal election is on April 28. You have the power to tell candidates that Canada must remain a leader in global health.

Yes YOU!

As some countries cut international assistance, millions of lives are at risk. Without funding, health clinics close, disease outbreaks go unchecked, and vulnerable communities lose access to life-saving care. Canada has a long history of supporting health and human rights worldwide, but this progress is not guaranteed.

That’s why we’re asking every Member of Parliament and federal election candidate:

Will you commit to strengthening Canada’s support for global health?

Why YOU Matter

Canada invests less than 2% of its budget (0.3% of its Gross National Income) to international development, yet this small commitment makes a huge difference. It saves lives, strengthens our global partnerships, reinforces our security, and builds a healthier world.

More than 50 years ago, Lester Pearson set a vision for Canada to invest 0.7% of its GDP in aid. We’ve never reached that goal. While we’re not asking to hit 0.7% today, cutting aid in a time of urgent global need isn’t an option.

At Partners In Health, we believe in healthcare as a human right. Our impact goes beyond direct medical care in 11 countries. Through community-based care and health system strengthening, we’ve shaped national policies, improving millions of lives and influencing governments serving hundreds of millions more.

But we can’t do this alone. Your support is crucial. Join us in making health care accessible for all.

What YOU Can Do

By signing the pledge today, you’re standing up for global health and making a real impact this election! We’ll also provide a ready-to-use toolkit for those who want to further the conversation:

  • A clear phone script for those ready to engage in the conversation

Every action makes a difference. Thank you for speaking up with us this election season.
